GP training in Gold Coast district
The Gold Coast district is a popular training location.
The area spans 70 km of pristine coastline from South Stradbroke Island to Coolangatta, and stretches west across the hinterland to the quaint townships of Canungra and Beaudesert. The Gold Coast district corresponds with the Gold Coast Primary Healthcare Network, and as it crosses zones three and four, this means there are limitations on registrars who can train in this area (general pathway only).
I don’t think I could ever get bored as a GP. It is such an amazing challenge to constantly see new patients with such varied presentations and complaints.

The Gold Coast’s beach towns offer a great lifestyle, from sun, surf and sand to a lively nightlife. The spectacular Gold Coast hinterland is a 30 minute drive from the coast. It encompasses sprawling rainforests, rolling farmland, charming villages, and wineries. You’re also close to theme parks and plenty of other tourist attractions.
Training practices
There are 38 accredited practices in the region offering a range of special interests and education opportunities. The major hospitals servicing the district are Gold Coast University Hospital and Robina Hospital.
Primary health network
Gold Coast Primary Health Network (GCPHN) plays an instrumental role in the health sector, including the commitment to supporting GPs. It focuses on delivering a range of services in the areas such as mental health, alcohol and other drugs, aged and palliative care, chronic pain, suicide prevention, cancer screening, immunisation and Indigenous health. Medical educators
