Indigenous Health In-Practice Guides
Since 2016, GPTQ’s Indigenous Health Training (IHT) Team have run cultural immersions for Practice Managers, Medical Educators, Registrars and staff on Stradbroke Island and the Gold Coast. The need for this Indigenous Health In-Practice Guide was identified through discussions with Cultural Immersion attendees who were seeking further information and additional support beyond the Cultural Immersion program. The Guide’s objective is to deepen the knowledge of, and provide additional documented support to, Indigenous Health Practice Managers, Supervisors and Registrars. Outcomes to be achieved by the In Practice Guides include:
• improved cultural awareness and relevant operational knowledge for Indigenous Health Practice Managers, Supervisors and Registrars
• increased recruitment and retention of Indigenous patients
• greater understanding of how Indigenous health can be done better ‘in practice’
The hope is that these guides will further support the work of Indigenous Health Practice Managers, Supervisors and Registrars.
