Mission, Vision and Values
What We Do
Central and Southern Qld Training Consortium Ltd (CSQTC), trading as General Practice Training Queensland (GPTQ), is a not-for-profit, limited-by-guarantee public company, established with a pre-eminent mission to deliver vocational education and training for general practitioners and health promotion services within the South Eastern Queensland region.
We deliver the Australian Government funded Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) vocational training program for doctors (GP Registrars) to achieve recognition as general practitioners under the medical specialty of general practice. This is achieved by successful completion of the Fellowship requirements of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and/or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM).
GPTQ receives its AGPT funding from the Australian Government Department of Health.
GPTQ operates four decentralised Districts and a Hubs education, training and other services delivery structure to address local needs, and utilises local resources where appropriate, supported by business services-centred offices located at Stafford and Springwood in Brisbane and in Toowoomba.
Our AGPT education and training program delivers the GP Fellowship programs accredited by ACRRM and RACGP, and is based on an apprenticeship vocational education and training model in ACRRM and/or RACGP accredited GP training facilities, including community general practices, primary healthcare clinics, and hospital settings. We provide education and training programs, resources and services for GP Registrars and their on-the-job GP Supervisors, Practice Managers, and for Medical Educators involved in the AGPT program we provide and administer.
GPTQ’s education and training programs are collaboratively developed and implemented utilising on-the-job training and educational release training that are carefully planned training activities including workshops and seminars, some of which are delivered in the local training practice, some at training Hub and District levels, and some on a whole organisation basis.
Our enrolled GP Registrars are employed by their applicable GPTQ affiliated training facility (e.g. community general practice and/or hospital and health service). These training facilities and their AGPT Supervisors are accredited by ACRRM and/or RACGP for their AGPT roles and responsibilities, and they are funded and supported by GPTQ for AGPT services.
